Introduction

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Urban Imports website and the vehicle sourcing, auction bidding, and import services provided by Urban Imports Ltd (“Urban Imports”, “we”, “us”). By using this website or engaging our services, you accept these terms. If anything here doesn’t match your understanding of an arrangement with us, contact us before proceeding.

Our service

Urban Imports gives customers in New Zealand and Australia direct access to Japanese vehicle auctions and to Japanese dealer and wholesaler stock. Depending on the path you choose, our role includes translating and interpreting auction sheets, bidding on your behalf within a maximum you confirm in writing, coordinating purchase and payment, arranging shipping and documentation, and — where you choose it — guiding you through compliance and registration at your destination.

We act as your sourcing and logistics partner. We do not manufacture or previously own the vehicles we help you import.

Deposits and payments

[DRAFT] A deposit activates real bidding privileges or secures a fixed-price vehicle request, and is credited toward the purchase or refunded if you decide not to proceed, as already described on the How to Buy page. What still needs to be written here explicitly: the exact point at which a deposit becomes non-refundable (for example, once a winning bid is confirmed), payment deadlines and what happens if one is missed, and how currency and exchange-rate movement between deposit and final invoice is handled.

Vehicle condition and auction sheets

Every auction sheet we act on is translated and interpreted by our team before a bid is placed, and where an inspection is possible our representatives in Japan assess the vehicle directly. Not every vehicle can be physically inspected before purchase.

[DRAFT] How responsibility is allocated between Urban Imports, the Japanese auction house, and you if a vehicle’s actual condition differs from the auction sheet or our assessment needs proper legal wording — this is exactly the kind of clause a generic template gets wrong.

Compliance and registration

Import compliance and vehicle registration requirements differ between New Zealand and Australia and change over time. We can guide you through the process, but compliance itself is carried out by, and is the responsibility of, the relevant government-approved entities in your destination country.

Cancellations and refunds

Urban Imports may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to our services, business practices, or applicable laws. Where appropriate, significant changes will be communicated through our website or by email. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
